If there is a cruise ship vacation in your plans and you currently call Waco, Dallas, Palestine, Beaumont, or Winnie home you'll probably be heading to Galveston to set sail. You could also catch a cruise ship in New Orleans. Both of those ports are popular with cruise guests who sail from the northern Gulf Coast. New Orleans offers trips on four cruise lines. However, Galveston offers a larger selection of carriers.

However, both New Orleans and Galveston offer cruises from Royal Caribbean. In NOLA you may board and sail on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas. And in Galveston, several Royal Caribbean vessels serve that Texas Port.

Once upon a time, the Allure of the Seas was homeported in Galveston and that is probably where many of you became acquainted with the ship. However, the Allure of the Seas is currently offering itineraries out of the Port of Miami. It was on a cruise this week that the vessel found itself in harm's way and a guest onboard the vessel was able to capture it on video.

To make the incident even harder to believe, the massive cruise ship was parked when it was hit. I guess this would be the maritime equivalent of hitting a parked car. But when your "car" is as big as a luxury hotel there are a few more reasons to be concerned.

The incident in question was captured on YouTube by Daniel McCurrie, at least it was published on that channel on YouTube. In the video, you can see a luxury yacht coming perilously close to the large ocean liner. Then the unthinkable happens. The language in the video might not be palatable for all tastes and ears, so you'll need to decide what to do with the volume knob before you hit play.

No, that was not what anyone really wanted to see during their stop in the Port of Nassau in the Bahamas. There is another view of the incident that was posted on Facebook from a different angle.

The collision might have sounded as if it did a lot of damage but the large cruise ship was apparently deemed safe enough to depart Nassau although a little behind schedule. Based on reports from Cruise Mapper the Allure of the Seas has either arrived at the Port of Miami or will be arriving in that port before sunrise this morning.

There were no reports of injury on either vessel.

Meanwhile, the Allure of the Seas was already scheduled for dry dock early next year. The massive ship was set to undergo at least $100 million in refurbishments and improvements. There was no confirmation if the incident on December 11 added any additional work to the planned maintenance.

If all goes as planned the "Allure Amplified" will begin sailing in April of next year with itineraries departing from Barcelona Spain as well as other ports of call in Europe.
