Shooting be damned! The Philadelphia 76ers have extended the contract of their All-Star point guard Ben Simmons for five years worth $170M that runs through 2024.

Simmons, 23, will receive a nice steady increase in his pay once the extension kicks in, in 2020-21. However, that's a lot of money for a 6-10 point guard who's void of shooting touch. Simmons has taken 17 three-pointers in his first two years and hasn't made one... His strength comes in the form of passing the basketball (8 apg career), rebounding the basketball (8.5 rpg career), and slashing to the basket scoring the ball (16.4 ppg career).

You have to assume that the 76ers expect Simmons to develop more of an outside shot as he matures and grows in his game but I doubt he'll ever become a prolific shooter. Time will tell, congrats on getting paid, Ben!
