NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Frontier Airlines says it's adding a direct flight to Trenton-Mercer Airport in New Jersey from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport starting Feb. 1.

New Orleans CityBusiness reports an Airbus A319, which features seating for up to 156 passengers, will fly to and from New Orleans on weekdays. Frontier also announced direct service to and from Trenton at airports in Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Daniel Shurz, Frontier's senior vice president for its commercial division, says the new service will allow passengers to skip busy hub airports and fly directly to tourist destinations in Florida and Louisiana.

Frontier Airlines, based in Denver, is the acquisition target of a local investor group that wants to move its headquarters to Armstrong and rename the airline New Frontier.
