Legislators have filed 18 bills for the regular legislative session beginning Monday dealing with business left over from the special redistricting session. House redistricting committee chairman Rick Gallot of Ruston says most of the bills are simply standby plans in case a bill submitted to the Department of Justice hits a snag. Should the Congressional remapping plan fail to meet federal muster Gallot has offered a bill which would replace it with the plan opposed by Governor Jindal. Gallot says he plans to keep his alternate re-mapping bill on the back burner until they get official word from the Department of Justice.
