Grant Helps Disabled Residents In Terrebonne Parish
HOUMA, La. (AP) — A grant from the Handicap Accessibility Program will help low-income Terrebonne Parish residents with disabilities to improve their home's handicap accessibility.
The $25,000 grant comes from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation.
Kelli Cunningham, Community Development division administrator, told the Courier that people who qualify for the grant can have bathroom grab bars and wheelchair ramps built in their homes.
Depending on the size of a home's yard and the height of the house, the price tag for installing one ramp and one bar in a home could range from $2,500 to $4,000.
