Louisiana Man Attacks Mom with Chainsaw

A shocking incident involving a chainsaw has been reported from the Gentilly area of New Orleans according to multiple sources including WGNO.

The disturbing incident is said to have happened around 2 o'clock Monday afternoon when police were called to Riviera Avenue after a call came in from a woman who was in need of help after being attacked.

According to FOX8 Live relatives of the woman say she was able to get three miles away from the situation where all of this happened in order to be able to call for help.

Police then went to Franklin Avenue, where they allege the woman's son, 34-year-old John Pittman, cut off his mother's arm with a chainsaw.

WDSU in New Orleans reported the following,

Monday afternoon, a chainsaw was seen being put into a brown evidence bag as several evidence markers lined the sidewalk and stairs at the home on Franklin Avenue.

Tawain Crockett who lives near the house where this happened told FOX8 Live,

That's crazy. It's the same stuff you see on TV. The neighbor who stays next door to him...she's always having issues with him. She would always give me a heads-up...so I could be alert.

The two responding officers were both hurt when responding to the complaint about Pittman. The officers are said to be in stable condition while the woman is in critical condition.

Police arrested the man for aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

Other neighbors that FOX8 Live spoke to said that they would not soon forget what happened with this terrifying situation.
