DERIDDER, La. (AP) — A two-car crash in Beauregard Parish has left a Texas woman dead and two others with moderate injuries.

Louisiana State Police say it happened shortly after 9 a.m. Friday on U.S. 190, about three miles east of U.S. 171 between Ragley and Reeves.

Troopers say 59-year-old George L Hodges, Jr., of Dequincy, was headed east on U.S. 190 when he crossed the center line into the westbound lane, striking a car driven by 71-year-old Robert L. Stinespring of Llano, Texas, head-on. Stinespring's passenger, 71-year-old Guadelupe L. Stinespring, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers suspect Hodges may have fallen asleep prior to the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.

Hodges was cited with driving left of center.

The crash remains under investigation.
