HOUMA, La. (AP) — The premiums that Terrebonne Parish Consolidated government employees' pay for health insurance will increase by 5 percent over the next three years.

The Courier reports the measure was approved by the Parish Council earlier this month following a public hearing. The increase goes into effect beginning Jan. 1.

Under the new plan, employees' share will increase from about 2 percent the first year and go up each consecutive year until the total goes from the 15 percent paid in 2012 to 20 percent.
