Heartstrings & Angel Wings 3rd Annual Gumbo Cookoff

Heartstrings & Angel Wings is proud to announce that the 3rd Annual Gumbo Cookoff is being held on March 12, 2011 at Crawfish Town USA in Henderson, La. The event will feature teams competing to be the best in the categories of Chicken & Sausage Gumbo or Seafood gumbo.

Applications are being accepted now to compete and can be found on our website www.heartstringsandangelwings.org or by calling Chef Colt Patin (337) 277-6745. There is a $50 entry fee per category for all teams.

Registration for all teams begins at 8:00am, and awards will be handed out at 7:30 pm. There is a $10 entry fee for the general public. All attending guests get all-u-can-eat gumbo from the competing teams with their admission fee. There will also be live music by “Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin Cajuns” beginning at 6:00 pm. A DJ will be playing during the remainder of the competition.

Crawfish Town USA will have a cash bar at the event, where a portion of the proceeds go to Heartstrings & Angel Wings. A portion of the entry fee also goes to Heartstrings & Angel Wings.

During the entire day, there is a raffle and silent auction. Raffle tickets are on sale now for $1 each and available by contacting us via email or calling (337) 332-4769. Top prize in the raffle is $1,000 and the winner will be drawn at the event at 7:30. There is no need to be present to win the raffle. Silent Auction items are also being accepted now.

Heartstrings & Angel Wings is a non-profit charity organization which provides clothing and other handmade items for babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The items aid in comforting the babies and uplift the spirits of the baby’s family members. Clothing made for babies weighing 1 pound to 5 pounds is donated to family members in effort to relieve some of the stress felt when the newest family member is in intensive care. The Gumbo Cookoff, Raffle, and Silent Auction is the only fundraiser done for the year.
