BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An April special election date has been set to fill a St. Martin Parish-based seat in the Louisiana House.

The vacancy was created by the resignation of state Representative Fred Mills who was elected to the state Senate.

House Speaker Jim Tucker said Monday the primary election will be held on April 2nd and the general election, if needed, will be held on April 30th.

Qualifying will begin on February 16th and end February 18th.
