In 2017, Equifax had one of the largest data breaches in history. Recently, the credit-reporting company has agreed to pay upwards of $700 million to settle state and federal investigations related to a massive security incident that exposed the personal information of more than 147 million Americans two years ago. The state of Louisiana will get roughly 3 million dollars of that money.

Since the settlement was reached Monday, Equifax has set up a website where you can see if you are eligible for a payout. To check your status, Equifax has setup a website where you can check your eligibility and file a claim.

The official website, www.equifaxbreachsettlement.com, is where you can file a claim. To confirm you're eligible to file a claim, enter your last name and the last six digits of your Social Security number on the site.

Most of those effected by the breach will receive free credit monitoring services or $125 in pre-paid credit card or a check.
