BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — The Gulf States Hurricane Conference is under way in Biloxi, Miss., with more than 300 emergency managers and first responders attending from Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Texas.

The conference has been held the past few years and rotates between the states.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/M9HlYF ) those attending share information about such topics as evacuation, shelters and supplies.

Rick Knabb, the new director of the National Hurricane Center is attending the conference, and he urged everyone to put together their plans now.
