UPDATE 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 - Trooper Stephen Hammons says escaped inmate Kyle Robert Dore was captured Wednesday morning at 11:45 a.m. on Mouton Cove Road south of Abbeville. Dore, who was captured by the United States Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force, with the assistance of Louisiana State Police, Abbeville Police Department, Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, was taken into custody without incident. The truck Dore used in his escape has also been recovered by investigators.

Further charges related to this incident will be handled by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.

3:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 7 - Tuesday morning, an inmate escaped from an Evangeline Parish deputy while the officer was getting gas at a Lafayette station.

State Trooper Spokesman Stephen Hammons says the officer was paying for his gas when inmate 28-year-old Kyle Robert Dore hot-wired the vehicle and escaped in the truck. Dore was last seen headed south on US Highway 167 toward the Abbeville area in the truck.

Dore is described as a white male, 5'11" weighing 175 pounds with black hair and blue eyes, should be considered dangerous.

Dore is currently serving a sentence for aggravated assault with a vehicle against a police officer. Anyone with any information is asked to call 911, the United States Marshal's at 337-251-6921 or Louisiana State Police Troop I at 337-262-5880.

The vehicle Dore was last seen driving in a 1996 green Chevrolet extended cab truck with a silver tool box in the bed. The truck has chrome molding, a gold stripe on the bottom of the doors and two antennas on it. The license plate on the vehicle is a Louisiana public plate 21452.
