The Vitalant Race Against the Clock Blood Drive is happening through Friday, July 12. Officials with Vitalant say they will have blood drives throughout our community this week, and you can schedule an appointment in your area or come to Lafayette.

Did you know that once every two seconds someone in the United States needs a pint of blood? Another interesting fact about blood is that the blood in our body travels 60,000 miles when moving through our vessels!

While supplies last, each person who donates blood will get a t-shirt and a voucher for a pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

There are multiple prizes that people will also be able to register to win including the following:

****$30,000 towards the car/truck/SUV of your choice

  • Gift cards from Deano's
  • Gift cards from Top Golf
  • Gift cards from Nothing Bundt Cakes
  • Gift cards from the Escape Room
  • Gift cards from Kart Ranch
  • Gift cards from Chris' Poboys
  • Gift cards from Todd's Car Wash
  • More gift card prizes

When you donate one pint of blood, you end up saving 3 lives. According to Vitalant.org, one out of every seven people going into a hospital will need blood throughout their stay.
