Louisiana-Bound Plane Collides with Another Plane at Atlanta Airport
Two planes on the tarmac at Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson airport ended up in a small collision with one aircraft clipping the tail of the other. One of those planes was headed to Lafayette according to Fox News.
Atlanta is a frequent hub for people who are flying out of Lafayette to get to various destinations across the country or across the globe.
This happened at around 10:10 Eastern this morning at the intersection of two taxiways at the airport. According to Fox, the Endeavor plane was headed to Lafayette, Louisiana while the Delta plane was heading to Tokyo.
The Delta plane ended up taking the tail off of the Lafayette-bound plane:
The FAA says the wing of Delta flight 295 ended up clipping the back of the flight headed for Lafayette this morning.
WFTS Meteorologist Jason Adams from Tampa was headed to Lafayette. Here is how he described on X about the collision:
Well that was terrifying. Taxiing out for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and another plane appears to have clipped the back of our plane. Very Jarring, metal scraping sounds then loud bangs. We're fine. No fire or smoke.
Delta Airlines has said that there were no injuries that have been reported in connection to the incident.
According to the airline, there were 56 people on the flight headed to Lafayette, and there were 221 people who were on board the other flight that was headed to Tokyo.
All passengers have been taken back to the terminal to be booked on other flights.
