South Louisiana is preparing for Hurricane Francine and one law enforcement agency has this reminder for those seeking information on the storm.

A lot of people are very nervous as Francine approaches the Louisiana coast and that is understandable, however, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office has a reminder for those seeking out information on the storm.

The agency posted on social media that you should not flood their dispatch center with calls about wind speed. Several people are calling the dispatch center to ask about how strong the winds may be with Hurricane Francine, and that is tying up the phone lines for potential emergency calls.

So, if you need information on the storm, you should follow your local meteorologist on social media as many across the Gulf Coast are doing a phenomenal job as we prepare for the storm's landfall, which should be late Wednesday morning.

Again, do not call 911 to get storm information as you and your family prepare for what forecasters say could be a Category 2 storm by Wednesday. When you occupy one of the lines, this could prevent those seeking out assistance in your area.

We will continue to share important information here and on this station's mobile app in the days ahead. Prepare now and stay safe.
