Some residents in Acadaiana are disgusted by the water they see coming out of their faucets and they want to know what is going on.

Photos sent to us show tubs filled with brown water and residents along Cobblestone Road say this has been an ongoing issue. When asked if they were bathing or using this water every day, they said yes.

So, we called the Sunset Water District 2 office and we were transferred to a board member.

He told us that they are aware of the problem and that a $3 Million "piece of equipment" is being installed in hopes of resolving the water problem.

When I initially asked what the problem was, the board member, who wished to remain anonymous, would not tell me. Finally, after explaining that I want to be transparent in this story, he told me it's a filtration issue that the water district is dealing with.

The board member for the Sunset Water District 2 told me that the Louisiana Department of Health recently tested the water and that it is safe for consumption. So, I asked if he ever drank the water like you see below and he told me that he has.

The discoloration in the water, which you see here, is a result of an excessive amount of iron in the water, which can be dangerous for some with certain types of medical conditions.

When asked if citizens should boil their water before consumption, he told me that most are purchasing bottled water from stores and that this isn't a widespread issue among the 1600 customers they serve. A boil advisory is not currently in place for this water district.

The photos here are from various addresses along Cobblestone Road, not far from Cankton, Louisiana.

Board Members have reportedly been working long hours to resolve this issue and the man we spoke to says they are aggravated that this issue has not been resolved. Again, one person who submitted these photos tells me this has been an issue at her home since she moved there, and she's been in her home for over a year.
