Louisiana Woman Harvests 100-Pound Watermelon

We are approaching the end of watermelon season in Louisiana, but that hasn't stopped one woman in Southeastern Louisiana from harvesting a huge melon.

One of my favorite summer treats since I was a kid is watermelon and each summer I look forward to cutting into a delicious one, but I have never seen a watermelon this size.

However, as a kid, I was gifted a huge watermelon because I loved them so much, but never one that weighed over 100 pounds.

Jeanie Buell harvested this massive-sized watermelon, which she's named "BIG MOMMA," and it weighed in at 111 pounds. Now, the huge melon from Zachary, Louisiana is being paraded on social media and will soon end up in a classrooom.

Buell told WBRZ that it took her three months to grow this watermelon and when it's time to cut it, she hopes to share it with her grandaughter's class.

I should note here, from previous experiences, the larger the melon the less sweet it can be at times.
