
Salmonella Risk Prompts Pet Food and Treat Recall
(99.9 KTDY) - The only thing worse than one of your family members being sick is if your fur family member gets ill. There have been a few pet food and pet treat products that have been recalled due to worries over salmonella being possibly present in the food and treats, according to the FDA.
Why This Recall Matters
Officials with the Food and Drug Administration say they have not received any complaints of pet illness due to these products.

Recalled Raw Bistro Dog Foods
One of the recalls impacts Raw Bistro Dog Fare, which sells pet foods. The following are the dog foods that are being voluntarily recalled:
- Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Frozen – 3 lb bags (UPC 858833002247) Lot 239, Best By 08/27/2026.
- Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Bulk, Frozen – 18 lb cases (UPC 858833002629) Lot 239, Best By 08/27/2026.
Freeze-Dried Treats Recalled
According to the FDA, the company Foodynamics is recalling the following freeze-dried pet treats:
- Raw Dog Barkery Whole Chicken Hearts with the lot number 030527
- What’s in the Bowl Whole Chicken Hearts with the lot number 030527
- BellePepper Cats products in 3 oz. packaged plastic bags labeled “Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Slices” with lot numbers 121426 and 011526
- Kanu Pets products in a 3 oz. packaged plastic bag labeled “Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Raw treats” with lot number 031627
Salmonella Risks for Pets and Humans
Salmonella can cause major sickness in pets and humans. Humans can become impacted with illness if they handle this pet food that was possibly contaminated with Salmonella. Raw Bistro issued the following about the impact Salmonella can have on a dog,
Pets infected with Salmonella may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, or vomiting. Some pets may experience only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and transmit infection to other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and shows these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
