Senior Corporal Segus Jolivette of the Lafayette Police Department was laid to rest on Thursday, August 1, 2024, and hundreds of police agencies showed up to show their respect for the fallen officer.

Cpl. Jolivette was shot and killed last week during a hostage stand-off and today his family, friends, and colleagues said their goodbyes to him in a beautiful ceremony in Opelousas, Louisiana.

From there, Cpl Jolivette was escorted to his resting place in Lafayette, and hundreds of police agencies from across the state took him home.

A beautiful procession was spotted on I-49 South Thursday afternoon, and all were greeted with American flags flown by various fire departments.

Some videos don't need a sound to express how powerful and moving they are, and this is one video.

Kimberlyn tells me that in addition to firefighters alongside the highway, many motorists stopped too in a way to salute and honor the fallen Lafayette Police Officer.

Check out this amazing video that was taken from just outside of Carencro, Louisiana. There were so many units in the procession that it stretched from Carencro to just outside of Opelousas.

That's how many people came to salute Officer Jolivette today.

This is another video from a friend of mine as officer's escorted the body of Cpl Jolivette to Lafayette.

Here's a look at the  Lafayette Fire Dept awaiting the arrival of the procession into Lafayette.
