The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns consumers of a potential problem with some AirWick Air Freshener cans. The cans could rupture due to a mistake during manufacturing.

A batch of AirWick Air Freshener cans is missing a very important corrosion inhibitor which can lead to the corrosion of the cans.

The AirWick cans can rupture causing the expulsion of the contents. The release of the contents could cause "injury and laceration hazards". Also, a leaking can could cause eye irritation.

 The Consumer Product Safety Commission AirWick Recall Involves the Following

    • 8-ounce aerosol cans in “Fresh Linen” scent (blue and white can, white cap, green Airwick logo, UPC 0-62338-74734-7)
    • 8-ounce aerosol cans in “Fresh Waters” scent (green and white can, white cap, green Airwick logo, UPC 0-62338-77002-4) with batch code B22077-NJ.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Reckitt is voluntarily recalling 8 oz aerosol cans of AirWick Fresh New Day® aerosol air fresheners in Fresh Waters and Fresh Linen scents in batch code B22077-NJ2 only, which were distributed and sold by retailers in the US and Caribbean between March and September 2022. The recalled products are missing a corrosion inhibitor, which can lead to corrosion and rupture of the metal can, posing injury and laceration hazards. In addition, corrosion of the container can result in leakage, posing a risk of skin and eye irritation upon contact. -AirWick.us

“Consumers should contact Reckitt to submit a photo of the recalled can, along with their contact information and written confirmation that they will dispose of the can to receive a voucher for a free replacement,” the CPSC said.
