For commuters in Lafayette, Louisiana you should be aware of construction at a busy intersection in the city.

While we may all frown upon road construction while it is happening, the results are often to our benefit and that may be the cast at a busy intersection in Lafayette.

Just recently road construction was happening near my house and the detour for three months was a major inconvenience, but once completed the bridge is much nicer and much safer for all who travel over it.

Now, while that project is complete along my commute, another project is underway in Lafayette and that will be on South College and West Bayou Parkway.

The Department of Transportation and Development says in a press release, "The $428,000 project will include clearing and grubbing, temporary dams, scour repair at the existing bridge structure, and other related work."

South College is a very busy road for those who work in the Oil Center and at Ochsner Hospital, so you may want to plan and plan to use a detour in the weeks ahead.

The announced project starts on September 18th and is expected to wrap up by November.

You can expect to see work crews in the area Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. with some work during the weekends.
