(KMDL-FM) There are over 6,600 locations of Burger King restaurants in the United States. In Louisiana, you can find Burger King in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Bossier City, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and just about any other city of a certain size.

The fast-food franchise is known for its signature sandwich, the Whopper. The other bit of marketing magic that Burger King is known for is a throwback from a few years ago when the chain touted a customer's ability to "hold the pickles and hold the lettuce" and "Have it Your Way". They even had a catchy jingle.

Who Are The Singers on Burger King's Have It Your Way Jingle?

I am not sure, but I think that might be the Supremes without Diana Ross singing in that commercial. No, wait, it's not. We did Google who the singers were, but they weren't named. But you have to admit it would be quite the treat to walk into a Burger King and have a counter worker pay that much attention to you, wouldn't it?

Okay, that was then, and this is now, and in keeping with Burger King's business model of creating new food choices and running them up the flagpole, we are pleased to inform you that as of today, July 15th, there is something new at the Home of the Whopper. It's not a new concept for a lot of backyard cooks, but for the fast-food franchise world, it's something truly unique.

What Is The New Whopper Burger King is Unveiling Today?

The new sandwich is the BBQ Brisket Whopper. It features slow-cooked BBQ brisket flanked by crispy onions, American Cheese, and barbeque sauce. All of that is piled onto a flame-grilled beef patty along with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise.

The new offering is part of the chain's "Whopper By You" marketing strategy. Earlier this year, BK introduced the Steakhouse Bacon Whopper, which combined a lot of favorite flavors that you might find at a steakhouse and loaded them onto a Whopper sandwich.

Speculation is that BK will have a few more Whopper ideas up its sleeve before the end of the year. But we can neither confirm nor deny that information. Meanwhile, a brisket barbeque burger sounds like a pretty good idea to us. I wouldn't suggest you eat it in the car, though; it seems as though there could be spillage opportunities with all that barbeque sauce and tomatoes.
