If you're a fan of the movie Die Hard have we got a holiday gift for you. The movie, which stars Bruce Willis and is set during Christmas has spawned countless arguments over the years as to whether or not it should be considered a "Christmas Movie".

Fans of the Die Hard series say yes it is. While more traditional fans of snow and reindeer, and fat guys who sneak into your home while you're asleep say, nay 'tis not of the holidays season and should not be celebrated as such.

Personally, I think the "Die Hard is a Holiday Movie" crowd is winning the argument. That's because one of the hottest pre-holiday gifts on Amazon and other online retailers is an Advent calendar that depicts the epic flight of John McClane's chief antagonist Hans Gruber down the side of the Nakatomi Plaza.

If you're familiar with Die Hard but have no idea what an advent calendar is let me school you on that issue. The purpose of an Advent calendar is to help countdown the days until Christmas. This is usually done by opening a small flap on the calendar to reveal a devotional message pertinent to the holiday season or a small treat.

The same can be said for the Die Hard Advent Calendar but it takes a more "groundbreaking" or should we say "splattering" approach to the countdown. Each day, as we grow closer to Christmas, Hans Gruber grows closer to the ground. Nothing says Happy Holidays like the destruction of evil, right?

You can find several versions of the Die Hard Advent Calendar online. Amazon has several to choose from. There are also more artsy and stylistic versions of that "magical holiday moment" available through retailers on the shopping site Etsy.

Hey if reindeer can fly why can't bad guys? Of course, reindeer have mastered the art of landing, Hans Gruber, not so much. Prices range from as low as $9.00 to much higher than that depending on how deep into the scenario you want to go.

The Die Hard Advent Calendar proves the late George Carlin was right, "if you nail two things that have never been nailed together before, some schmuck will buy it from you". Here's to creativity and Christmas.

Up next, is Dolly Parton's Hard Candy Christmas a holiday song or just a song about a girl from a house of ill repute having to find a new apartment in December?

Fun fact, both Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly and Die Hard starring Bruce Willis made their appearances in the same year. That year was 1988. Now, don't you feel old?
