Louisiana Lottery Confirms Powerball Win on Wednesday

The last three big wins the Powerball game has generated in Louisiana happened in Houma, Bossier City, and in Youngsville. In fact, it's been over a month since Lady Luck has paid a visit to a lucky lottery player in Louisiana. But as of Wednesday night, there has been a change in this story. The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed a Louisiana-sold ticket is a big winner in last night's Powerball drawing.

The last time the Powerball game gave away a jackpot prize was earlier this month. A ticket sold in Ohio won over $139 million in the July 3rd drawing. So, the Powerball jackpot has been growing ever since then. On Wednesday night the estimated top prize in the multi-state lottery's jackpot was $39.9 million.

Speaking of cash, Louisiana Powerball players had a few winning tickets for last night's game. There were 16 tickets sold in the state that earned a prize of $100. There were five tickets sold for last night's Powerball in Louisiana that earned $300. You've probably deduced the $300 winners opted for the Power Play.

Our sources at Powerball did reveal that no ticket sold across the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to take home the almost $40 million jackpot. There were two Match 5 Million winners. Those tickets were sold in Washington and Massachusetts.

Louisiana's big winner missed the jackpot by one number. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. The ticket's purchaser also opted for the Power Play options which means the prize of $50,000 was tripled to an astounding $150,000. Other than the two Match 5 Million prizes, the Louisiana winner was the top prize in last night's game.

Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge revealed the point of purchase for the $150,000 winner was in Frierson Louisiana. The ticket was sold at a place called Relay Station on LA Highway 175. If you purchased a Powerball ticket at that Desoto Parish-based business, you'll need to make arrangements with your local Louisiana Lottery office to arrange payment.

Speaking of payment, a $50,000 Powerball winner from January remains unclaimed in Louisiana. That ticket will expire one week from today if not claimed. If you played Powerball back in January and purchased a ticket in Mandeville, check your coat pockets you could have a $50,000 winner waiting on you, but not for long.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Saturday night. The estimated top prize will be $54 million for the annuitized amount if you win and opt for the lump sum payout. Your winnings would be an estimated $25.6 million.
