Over the weekend lottery players from Baton Rouge to Breaux Bridge and Bossier City to the Boston Canal had the opportunity to play and win several million dollars in prizes offered by the multi-state lottery games Powerball and Mega Millions. There was also an opportunity on Saturday to claim a top prize of more than one million dollars playing Lotto and $50,000 in the Easy 5 game.

The good news is that in at least one of those games, a state-sold lottery ticket returned a prize of more than $10,000. That big money winner was part of Friday night's Mega Millions drawing. The Mega Millions jackpot had just reset to $20 million following a huge $1.58 billion dollar win just a few days ago.

The top prize in Friday's game was $20 million and no tickets sold for that drawing matched the numbers needed to claim the top prize. Game officials estimate that when the ping pong balls drop on Tuesday the jackpot will be worth $36 million dollars.

Friday's Mega Millions drawing produced Louisiana's largest single lottery prize over the weekend as well. A $10,000 winning ticket was sold for the August 11th drawing at Jiffy Mart #15 which is located on Coursey Boulevard in the Capital City. The ticket matched four of the white balls and the Mega Ball.

Saturday's Powerball drawing in Louisiana was for a top prize estimated to be $203 million dollars and some change. No tickets sold across the country matched the numbers needed to claim that prize. The largest prize won by a Louisiana-sold ticket was $200. Only five tickets sold in the state matched the numbers needed to claim that prize.

But there will be a Powerball drawing tonight. The estimated jackpot at the time the drawing occurs will be $215 million. That drawing will take place at 10 pm this evening and by rule, ticket sales must cease at least one hour before the drawing.

The Louisiana Lottery Lotto game has not produced a winner since May 6th of this year. On that date, a single ticket sold in Houma claimed the top prize of $700,000. Since then the jackpot has grown to its current estimated amount of $1,550,000. The next drawing for Lotto will be on Wednesday night.

Easy 5, another draw game from the Louisiana Lottery has been the most prolific winner producer of all the draw games played in the state in recent weeks. The Easy 5 game has had three different winners since July 26th. On that date, an Easy 5 ticket was sold in Slidell for a top prize of $290,000. Since then there has been a $60,000 winner sold in Plaquemine on August 2nd and a  split jackpot of $60,000 that went to Easy 5 players in Houma and Vidalia.
