Louisiana May Get Some Much Needed Rain Early Next Week
It doesn't take any of us in Louisiana to be meteorologists to know we need some rain and a break in the extreme heat. Both those could be coming to fruition by Monday.
Yes, the weekend calls for 100+ degree weather for both Saturday and Sunday with very minimum rain chances.
However, according to KATC-TV 3 Meteorologist Bradley Benoit, come Monday, we will have a weak front approach the Acadiana area and that should give us a slightly better chance of some rainfall.
Although we won't see a drastic cool-down behind the front, we should get to enjoy a reduction in humidity for the middle parts of next week.
Other parts of the state have an even greater rain chance on Monday. Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lake Charles are all for around a 60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
New Orleans even has an 80% chance of rain on Tuesday.
We could all use the rain, but especially the parts of the state that are experiencing wildfires, like Beauregard Parish where residents in some of the towns have had to evacuate because the fires are so rampant and bad.
In August, there have been nearly 500 wildfires reported in the state of Louisiana.
Weatherwise, the meteorologists at KATC-TV 3 are also watching the Gulf of Mexico as a disturbed area is brewing near the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. There is a high chance of it developing into a depression in the days ahead as it tracks across the eastern Gulf.
The upper-level trough across the southeastern portion of the U.S. will likely steer this system to Florida by mid-week, but we will definitely be keeping an eye on it.
