Nothing says "happy holidays" in South Louisiana like getting outside and doing some good old-fashioned ice skating. (Tongue planted firmly in cheek.)

For a second straight year, an Acadiana town is hosting public ice skating as Crowley has announced "Rice on Ice" for the entire month of December.

Here's the best part about this event -- it's totally free! It will be free to enter and skates are provided.

The ice skating rink will be located at the Gladys Trahan Tennis Courts in the Tony Robichaux Sports Complex. The address is 1001 W. Mill Street in Crowley.

"Rice on Ice" is presented and made possible by the Clem & Jane Suire Memorial Fund. However, organizers are still looking for additional sponsorships.

With artificial ice technology, ice skating will be possible with any outside temperature that South Louisiana throws our way.
