Baton Rouge, Louisiana (KMDL) - After announcing its closure only a few days ago, Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge is now under new management by Louisiana-based company Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC.

Are Blue Bayou And Dixie Landin' In Baton Rouge Closed?

On May 14, it was announced that Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge would be closed for the Summer of 2025, but had plans to re-open for the Summer of 2026.

At that time, the plan was for Blue Bayou to close for the Summer of 2025, but its counterpart, theme park Dixie Landin' would remain open.

However, after only one week of being open for the Summer season, Dixie Landin' announced it would in fact be closing for the entire season.

Blue Bayou Water Park To Become Soak’n Fun

According to WAFB, Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge is now under a new lease agreement with Louisiana-based company Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC, and will be moving forward under new management.

Blue Bayou will re-open as Soak’n Fun.

According to WAFB.com, managing partner at Leisure Sports Glenn Haggerty says "We’re thrilled to bring the Soak’n Fun experience to Baton Rouge. Our team is committed to creating a safe, exciting, and family-focused environment that will delight both locals and visitors alike."

Leisure Sports has owned and operated Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, Mississippi for the past 20 years.

Leisure Sports will only be leasing and operating the water park, but not Dixie Landin’ Theme Park.

The current Blue Bayou owners will continue to maintain ownership.

When Will Soak'n Fun Open In Baton Rouge, Louisiana?

As of now, the plan is for Blue Bayou to reopen in Spring 2026 as Soak’n Fun.

The Soak'n Fun rebranding is expected to bring with it upgraded facilities, safety, cleanliness, and family-friendly entertainment, all things Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC is known for.

At Soak'n Fun in Gulfport, Mississippi, you'll find The Horn Island Blaster water roller coaster as well as a lazy river, wave pool, the Riptide Racer, cabanas,

They're also known for family-friendly events like live music, sea lion shows, character meet‑and‑greets.

At this point, it's not yet known what changes if any will be coming to the former Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge, but we'll let you know when we find out!
