‘Unique’ Powerball Game Revealed by Louisiana Lottery Tonight

Did you know there was a big-money Powerball winner sold in Lafayette, Louisiana? How about another that was sold in New Iberia? And there was a third big win confirmed on a Powerball ticket that was sold in Metairie. Those three cities in Louisiana are home to the state's most recent Powerball lottery wins of note.

The Metairie ticket earned a prize of $100,000 in October. The New Iberia winner was confirmed to be $100,000 as well on November 6th. The Lafayette win happened just three days later on November 9th. That ticket earned its owner a prize of $50,000.

If you didn't hear there was a Powerball jackpot win on Saturday night. A ticket sold in New York City earned the game's top prize of $256 million. That means tonight, Monday, December 9, 2024, the Powerball Game will start with a new jackpot of $20 million.

To most of us, $20 million is a lot of money but when it comes to playing lottery games that "paltry amount" doesn't move the meter among the casual lottery player. Tonight for this "unique" version of the Powerball drawing there is one major reason you should spend the extra buck on Power Play if you choose to play Powerball. That reason is "10 times your winnings". Tonight Powerball will offer players a chance to have a "10x" multiplier if they opt for the Power Play.

Powerball only allows for the "10x" feature when the game's annuitized jackpot is less than $150 million.
