Large Portion of Lafayette Parish Placed Under Water Boil Advisory
KLFY reported that the Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North had an electrical outage due to the severe weather that swept across Acadiana Thursday night.
Due to the power outage at the production facility, they have issued a water boil advisory for a large portion of Lafayette Parish.
What Part of Lafayette Parish Is Affected?
The customers affected include the entire LPWD production facility area, which is west of the Vermilion River, North of Smith-Reed Road, east of University Ave, north of Carencro, and up to the Lafayette Parish line.

Symptoms You May Experience After Consuming Untreated Water:
The Water boil advisory will remain in effect until otherwise notified. At this time, it is important to boil the water that you or your pets consume to prevent coming into contact with bacteria that can cause a multitude of symptoms.
- Gastrointestinal symptoms: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps due to exposure to waterborne pathogens.
- Dehydration: Diarrhea and vomiting can lead to fluid loss and dehydration, especially in vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly.
- Fever: Infections caused by consuming contaminated water may lead to fever as the body's immune system responds to pathogens.
- Fatigue: Feeling tired or weak may occur as the body tries to fight off infections caused by ingesting untreated water.
- Headaches: A result of dehydration or as a symptom of illness caused by waterborne pathogens.
- Muscle aches: May occur as a result of dehydration.
