Today is the day that 100 lucky food lovers in Lafayette will enjoy a free plate lunch at Laura’s 2 NEXT Generation, courtesy of viral food influencer Mr. Chimetime.

UPDATE:

Laura's 2 gave out more plates than the 100 plates paid for by Mr. Chimetime, and did their best to accommodate the crowds that showed up early. The free plates ran out quickly, but many in line still purchased food from Laura's to support the local restaurant.

The giveaway, announced after Chimetime called Laura’s 2 the highest-rated meal ever on his channel, is a thank-you to the Lafayette community and the restaurant that set the bar sky-high on his 337 food tour.

But before you head over for a plate, the Laura’s team has a few important reminders.

Parking Warnings and a Message from the Owners

In a heartfelt message to their followers, owner Madonna Broussard, a James Beard Award finalist, and her daughter Lacey Broussard urged folks to be patient and respectful of the small lot and surrounding businesses.

“We’re in between two amazing businesses, so PLEASE don’t block their lots. The church next door too — if you block, they are calling and I can’t help you,” Madonna wrote in a Facebook post.

By 10:30 a.m., Lafayette Police were already on-site assisting with crowd control, and while the line wasn’t overwhelming, the parking lot was full, with most customers finding street parking.

First-Come, First-Served — and Tickets Are Moving Fast

As of Saturday morning, Lacey Broussard shared that they only had 50 tickets left for the free plate lunches, which are being handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.

The restaurant staff, made up entirely of family, is hustling through the summer heat to deliver the signature flavor that made Mr. Chimetime call Laura’s 2 his best experience in Louisiana (and maybe ever) thus far.

A Big Win for Community and 337 Culture

This moment isn’t just about a free meal. It’s a spotlight on what makes Lafayette, and the entire 337, such a special place: flavor, family, and genuine community.

Salute to Madonna, Lacey, and the entire Laura’s 2 crew for making it happen; and to Mr. Chimetime, who’s now more honorary Lafayette than visitor at this point.

Keep showing love, stay cool in this July heat, and above all, don’t block the lot.
