When we say everyone has been saying the phrase 'very demure, very cutesy,' we literally mean everyone. From celebrities to our coworkers, there is no escaping it, and we wanted to get to the bottom of this TikTok trend.

Now, just for clarification, this is the official definition of the word demure: reserved, modest, and shy (typically used for a woman).

At this point, using it out of context or somewhat incorrectly is the goal.

How Did The Word Demure Started Trending?

We didn't realize that it was even possible to make a word that already existed in the dictionary a trend. When the word 'frizz' first started trending, it made sense because it was an abbreviated, more 'hip' way of saying someone had charisma, but the word 'Demure' has been around, so how did it rise to fame over night?

Beauty influencer Jools Lebron posted a TikTok explaining how she did her makeup for the workplace and described it as, yep, you guessed it, 'very demure, very mindful', and people took off with it. Honestly, her message is pretty solid, and it's fun to watch our favorite celebrities' takes on this trend.

Everyone from Kim Kardashian to Jennifer Lopez, and even Penn Bradley from the hit Netflix Series 'You,' have given their take on the trend.

Celebrities aren't the only ones hopping on the 'demure' trend. A TikTok creator who makes relatable content for teachers made a video that is a comical reminder for students returning to school.

Sometimes, the best trends are the ones that no one saw coming, including the creator. While some may argue that the 'Very Demure' trend's 15 minutes of fame is ticking, it's fun watching creators from different niches put their creative spin on it.

If you are taking it seriously, you are doing it wrong.
