MARKSVILLE, La. (AP) — Avoyelles Parish School Board member Lizzie Ned has lost her battle in court when a judge ruled that she does not fulfill residency requirements and declared her seat vacant for the board term that begins Jan. 1.

In his ruling on Tuesday, state District Court William J. Bennett said Ned failed to provide evidence that she lives in the district she wants to represent, therefore she is not qualified to run.

Bennett wrote Ned admitted that her residence is in District 4 and not District 6.

The Town Talk reports Ned's attorney, Edward Larvadain Jr., could not be reached for comment. Larvadain, however, has indicated in the past that he planned to seek federal court intervention and request to redraw the district lines.
