The decision is that Louisiana's public assistance agencies have to give applicants for other services voter registration forms whether they are asking for help via the phone, online, by mail or if they are there making the request in person.

Their suit claimed those agencies routinely failed to provide required voter registration services to people applying for or renewing public assistance benefits.  These benefits included Medicaid and food stamps.

Milazzo, however, hasn't ruled yet on the plaintiffs' claims that state agencies have violated the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
