Juneteenth Celebration Set For Port Allen

PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) — The Port Allen community in West Baton Rouge Parish is planning a Juneteenth celebration on June 16.

The Advocate reports festivities will take place at William and Lee Park.

A baseball tournament is planned at 10 a.m. and there will be food and entertainment.

Juneteenth commemorates the abolition of slavery in the United States.
