Knight Oil Executive Case May Go To DA’s Office Soon

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — The case against a former oil executive accused of trying to frame his brother could go to the district attorney's office within a few days.

Investigators tell the Lafayette Advertiser they are putting on paper all information they have been able to gather on Knight Oil executive Mark Knight.

Lafayette Sheriff's Office Captain Kip Judice says it will be up to the DA's office to determine whether the case will be taken to a grand jury.

Knight was charged for racketeering April 15. Knight is accused of paying more than $100,000 in cash and gifts to two police officers and a former Knight employee to set up his brother, Bryan Knight, on drug charges. Bryan Knight was a former executive at Knight Oil.
