Lafayette Chiropractor Pleads Guilty To Fraud Charges

Michael Keith Johnsey pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges.

The charges were filed by Blue Cross Blue Shield who investigated the matter after learning that they were being charged for surgeries that weren't being performed.

Johnsey worked with the Acadiana Doctors of Chiropractic and is looking at a maximum of ten years in prison on three counts of health care fraud. He allegedly charged the company from 2008 to 2011.

The total amount billed to the company was $176,243 and Blue Cross/Blue Shield was seeking restitution.

Johnsey brought a check for the entire amount to the court hearing Thursday.
