Lafayette, LA –  What started out as a personal project to map the best decorated homes and businesses has turned into a community wide endeavor spreading Christmas cheer, and a little competitive rivalry, throughout town. LafayetteLights.com had its humble origins in the desire to know where the best Christmas decorations are located. Realizing that one person couldn’t track it all, The Russo Group started LafayetteLights.com to provide a location for everyone to register their home or business with a website that generated a comprehensive map. As an added incentive, a competition for Best, Brightest, Tackiest and Overall was started with each registrant sharing the site with their friends via email, social media, postcards and yard signs. Over 100 homes and businesses registered throughout Lafayette Parish providing a map full of Christmas decorations to drive around and admire. The voting concluded on December 19th with over 74,000 visits to the website and over 30,000 votes cast. The winners in both the home and business categories have been invited to attend the award presentation on Tuesday, December 21st at 10am at Joey Durel’s office at Lafayette Consolidated Government. As a part of the campaign, Bon Noel Christmas Shoppe provided a $750 shopping spree to give one lucky winner the opportunity to pump up their decorations for next year. Registration boxes were available throughout town and at the sponsor locations. A name will be drawn from the registration boxes during the awards ceremony. Special thanks so the sponsors that made it all possible: Popeyes Cox Communications, Jones Walker, Coushatta Casino Resort, Advertiser Media Network, Acadiana Bottling, Bon Noel Christmas Shoppe, Townsquare Media, Award Master, The Russo Group, CBM Technologies.
