According to Lafayette Consolidated Government's Environmental Manager Mark Pope this Saturday's household chemical clean-up day will mark 20 successful years.  Pope visited 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today and said,

Kudos to Lafayette Consolidated Government for implementing the program and kudos to residents of the city of Lafayette and unincorporated areas of the parish for making the program such a huge success.

Pope when on to say,

This is a perfect time to dispose of waste chemicals including paint, poison, mercury, household cleaners, insecticides and pesticides.

With the event taking place this Saturday at Cajun field from 8:00am until Noon only Pope said,

It's a busy day with 800 to 1,200 cars rolling through the check-point where we check id's to insure only Lafayette residents and residents of unincorporated areas of the parish are admitted it can get hectic.
