LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A Lafayette mom is facing two counts of attempted first degree murder after she allegedly shot two women Saturday evening who were trying to fight with her daughter.

Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said the two female victims, ages 23 and 24, were apparently trying to convince the daughter to come out of her home on Dolese Street and fight them on the road.

Mouton said the mother, 50-year-old Diane McZeal allegedly came out of the house with a handgun and shot the two women, hitting each of them in the arm.

The women were taken to a local hospital and were in stable condition, Mouton said.

The shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victims and McZeal's daughter, Mouton said.

The case remains under investigation.
