Lafayette Parish Murder Victim Identified Following Thursday Night Shooting

Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday night, which claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman.

According to LPSO Public Information Officer Valerie Ponseti, deputies responded to a distress call at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Rendezvous Rd., where they discovered the deceased victim. The woman was subsequently identified as Alexis Notto, 31. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been fully disclosed as the investigation continues.

Following the incident, 29-year-old Jaquell Carter was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and is currently being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the motive or the events preceding the shooting, stating only that the investigation is ongoing. They have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
