Lafayette Native Mima Doucet Off To Fast Start In DI Softball

A former local high school softball player is off to a quick start in her first year at the Division I level.

Mima Doucet, who is playing third base, while spending some time batting clean-up for Southeastern Louisiana, has helped the Lions to a 6-6 start in the 2019 college softball season.

A native of Lafayette, Doucet is currently hitting a .333, to go along with 2 runs batted and 5 stolen bases.

A prep standout at Notre Dame, Doucet was named All-State, All-Acadiana, All-Parish and district MVP as a senior, while compiling a .443 career average.

Following high school, Doucet attended LSU-Eunice, where she was named a two-time Academic All-American.

Doucet put together a great  2018 season for the Lady Bengals, earning first team NJCAA All-American and all-region honors as a sophomore, hitting a .455, to go along with 100 hits, 79 runs, 10 homers, 55 runs batted in, and 39 stolen bases.

In addition, Doucet set a new LSU-Eunice school record last season, accumulating 29 doubles, which led all of NJCAA Division II.
