As Hurricane Delta takes aim at the Louisiana coast and all of Acadiana, the Lafayette Parish School System announces it will close all schools and facilities on Thursday and Friday.

The storm has resulted in the cancelation of Friday's Meals-to-Go pickup.

In High School football, the Acadiana High-Sulphur High football game has been canceled due to Calcasieu Parish schools being closed. The other games involving Lafayette Parish Public Schools have been moved to Wednesday night, including:

  • Lafayette High @ Comeaux High
  • Northside High @ St. Martinville High
  • Carencro High at Southside High (played at Teurlings)
  • Teurlings at Notre Dame (game to be played on 96.5 FM KPEL)

All game times are set for 7 p.m.

LPSS will give an update on Sunday whether schools will be able to open next week.

Also, a source close to KPEL News says Lafayette Christian Academy will be closed Thursday and Friday as well.

All Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lafayette will be closed Thursday and Friday as well.
