Sunday morning was a busy one for police in Lafayette as officers investigated two separate shootings.

Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police say officers responded to a disturbance on W. Second Street at about 2 a.m. regarding a large fight.

The victim, a 20-year-old male from Carencro, tells police as the two groups involved in the fight separated, he heard a single gunshot and was hit in the back. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The second shooting happened at about 3:44 a.m. on N. University Ave. The victim says he was involved in an argument with two black males who were driving in a "newer model silver Ford Mustang," Mouton says.

As the victim was walking away from the car, one of the suspects fired a single gunshot, hitting the victim in the right leg. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The suspects in both shootings fled the scenes.
