A student has been disciplined after local authorities responded to a threat against LJ Alleman Middle School in Lafayette. In a release, the district says the school implemented its emergency plan this week after the threat was uncovered. The nature of the threat or where it was made has not been released. The student was referred to Lafayette Police and has not been identified at this point.

LJ Alleman Threat Earlier this week, Lafayette Police notified the administration of LJ Alleman and the district of a threat to LJ Alleman Middle School. While law enforcement agencies investigated the threat, the school’s administration implemented their safety plan. On Thursday, the individual responsible for the threat was identified. The student was disciplined in accordance with the parish Consequences of Behavior Policy, and referred to law enforcement. By working closely with city police these past few days, we are confident that the individual involved in the incident has been dealt with. Moving forward, school and district administrators will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies to monitor campuses, investigate all threats, and provide for a safe school environment for all campuses.
