Four finalists were selected from a total of twelve planning firms that responded to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) released by Lafayette Consolidated Government in late October of this year.  The RFQ was for the development of a Comprehensive Plan for Lafayette Consolidated Government.  The RFQ was drafted with assistance from the Center for Planning Excellence.

The four finalists are Dover, Kohl & Partners, Fregonese Associates, Goody Clancy, and Wallace Roberts & Todd.  The four were recommended as the finalists to City-Parish President Joey Durel after an Advisory Committee of 25 reviewed the qualifications and made a unanimous recommendation.

A comprehensive plan, sometimes referred to as a “Master Plan” in Louisiana, provides a guide for the future growth and development of a community.  It addresses several different elements such as land use, transportation, and infrastructure, as well as other aspects of that community.

A public presentation is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 24th.  Each of the four teams responding to the RFP will make a presentation and will answer questions posed by the Advisory Committee in a public meeting.

Each firm will be given approximately 25 minutes to present, followed by an approximately equal time for a question and answer session.  The public will be notified as the details are confirmed and will be invited to attend.

The Center for Planning Excellence, a Baton Rouge non-profit planning organization, is providing Lafayette Consolidated Government with technical expertise for the comprehensive planning process.

Upon release of the names of the four firms, Durel issued the following statement, “Reading the qualifications and hearing the discussion of the Advisory Committee boosted my enthusiasm about the important work that can be furthered by a Comprehensive Plan.  I look forward to having all of our citizens in the Parish participate in picking the firm and helping to develop a plan that guides our growth and gives us a cohesive vision for the future.”
