The island nation of Cuba. It's where you expect to find larger than figures like Fidel Castro and LSU football coach Les Miles. What? That's right the mad-hatter is in Cuba this week as part of a spring break trip.

Miles traveled to Cuba for pleasure and if he happens to spot an athlete or two you can bet he will probably retain his ties to the island nation although his trip is certainly more about pleasure than business.

Miles was on hand  yesterday with the Tampa Bay Rays took on the Cuban National team in exhibition baseball. A former LSU standout Mikie Mahtook event tweeted.

Beyond excited for today! Can't believe @LSUCoachMiles is going to be here to take it all in.

Mahtook now plays for the Rays and his team downed the Cubans in this landmark baseball game by a score of 4-1.

When asked by the media about Coach Miles traveling to the Pearl of the Antilles LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette told the Louisiana Radio Network,

That's one of the great things about Les. He loves to experience different things and I wasn't surprised when I heard he was going to Cuba.

When asked about what Coach Miles itinerary in the island nation might be, Bonnette told the media,

He's going to visit children and has things set up where he's going to schools to pass out soccer balls and footballs.

You can expect to hear more about Coach Miles journey to Cuba next week when he visits with reporters about his trip.
