A Louisiana man has been arrested on multiple counts of video voyeurism after investigators discovered he allegedly placed hidden cameras in a condominium in Alabama and the guest bathroom of his home. After the alarming discovery, Jonathan Bethancourt 31, of Slidell, was taken into custody.

According to FOX 8, the investigation began when a babysitter found a hidden camera in the guest bathroom of Bethancourt's home, cleverly disguised as a smoke detector. The babysitter immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a thorough search of the residence.

During the search, investigators uncovered another hidden camera and disturbing video footage taken from a condominium in Orange Beach, a popular vacation destination in Alabama. Additional incriminating evidence was also found, though officials have not disclosed the specifics of this evidence.

Bethancourt was subsequently charged with 11 counts of video voyeurism. Police assured the public that there was no indication he had placed cameras in any other locations. The case has brought up concerns on social media concerning privacy and safety, especially in rental properties and private homes.

Bethancourt was booked into the Slidell jail on May 29 before being transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. He has since posted bond and is awaiting further legal proceedings.

Authorities encourage anyone who suspects they may have been a victim of such crimes to come forward and report any suspicious findings to the police.
