Louisiana’s First Black Female Doctor Honored with Marker
Yesterday, Louisiana's first black doctor was honored in New Iberia today with a marker placed in Bouligny Plaza.
Dr. Emma Wakefield-Paillet graduated with honors from New Orleans Medical University, now Dillard University in the top of her class in 1987.
She earned her license to practice medicine in April 1987.
